Plenty of people picture a buggy rolling off a line, painted one of three colours, and that's that. A bespoke build doesn't work like that. Because every vehicle is built to order, the process starts with you and how you'll use it, and the buggy is specified, built and finished around that answer. This is the journey from first conversation to delivery, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect when you commission one.
How golf buggies are made when every one is built to order
The short version: there's no warehouse of finished buggies waiting for a buyer. Each one is specified for its owner, then built. That sounds slower, and it is, but it's the reason the finish, the fittings and the battery all suit the job rather than a guess at the average. The process splits into six clear stages, and you're involved in the ones that matter. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.
- 1. The conversation and the brief: how you'll actually use it.
- 2. Specification and design: seats, battery, body, finish and fittings.
- 3. The build: frame, drivetrain, battery and bodywork come together.
- 4. Finishing and quality checks: paint, trim and a full going-over.
- 5. Delivery and commissioning: to your door, set up and handed over.
- 6. Aftercare: warranty, priority call-out and the years that follow.
Step 1: The conversation and the brief
Everything starts with a conversation, not a configurator. We want to know the boring, useful things: how many people you need to move at once, how far in a normal day, and what the ground is like. Tarmac, gravel, wet grass, a steep track, or a bit of everything? Any towing or carrying? Indoors, outdoors or both? The answers shape every decision that follows, which is why we ask before we quote.
This is also where the character of the buggy gets set. A private owner crossing a long drive wants something quiet and handsome. A resort or estate running a fleet wants vehicles that match a house style and shrug off daily use. Tell us the job and the look you're after, and that becomes the brief. If you're still weighing up what's possible, our guide to what you can customise on a bespoke buggy is a good place to gather your thoughts first.
Step 2: Specification and design
With the brief in hand, the buggy gets specified. Seats come first, because seat count sets the platform, the price and the feel of the vehicle. The four seater (the Avon) is the all-rounder most owners land on, but the two seater (the Wye), the six seater (the Severn), the eight seater (the Thames) and the utility model (the Tamar) each suit a different job. Battery choice is next, and for anything used regularly we'd usually steer you to lithium for its range, fast and partial charging, lighter weight and long service life.
Then come the choices that make it yours: bodywork colour, upholstery, trim, wheels, roof and screen, lighting, load beds, tow hitches and any special fittings. We can match a colour to a house, a brand or an estate's palette. None of it is picked from a fixed menu. If you can describe it, we can usually build it. For a fleet, this is also where livery and branding are designed in from the start rather than added on later, which our guide to custom fleet branding for golf buggies covers in detail.

Once the specification is agreed, we confirm a tailored price. Because the build is yours, the quote reflects what you've actually chosen rather than a headline figure that ignores half of it. We also aim to beat any genuine like-for-like quote, which is a fairer promise on a bespoke vehicle than a sticker price ever could be.
Built to order means the buggy answers to the job, not the other way round.
Step 3: The build
Now it gets physical. The build brings together the frame, the drivetrain, the battery and the bodywork into a single vehicle, in roughly that order. A solid frame is the foundation, so brakes, steering and suspension are fitted to something that won't flex or rattle down the line. The motor, controller and battery pack go in next, wired and set up for the spec you chose, then the body panels, seats, roof and trim are fitted over the top.
This is the stage where the bespoke choices stop being a drawing and start being a buggy. The colour goes on. The upholstery is fitted. The load bed, the tow hitch, the weather doors, the lighting, all the things from the specification are built in rather than bolted on as an afterthought. Building one vehicle at a time means each is assembled to its own list, which is the whole point of going bespoke.
Step 4: Finishing and quality checks
A finished-looking buggy and a finished buggy are not the same thing. The finishing stage is about the details: an even paint finish, clean trim lines, panels that sit flush, upholstery without a loose seam. Then comes the part that matters most, the checks. Brakes, steering, lights, charging, the battery and the drivetrain are all gone over before anything leaves, because the easiest fault to fix is the one caught before delivery.

A vehicle built to order should drive and feel right from the first journey, and the checks are how we get there. Everything is tested against the specification, so a buggy ordered with a particular battery, a tow rating or a set of fittings is confirmed to deliver exactly that. Only once it passes does it move to delivery.
Step 5: Delivery and commissioning
The buggy comes to you. We deliver worldwide as standard, so a home in the Cotswolds and a property abroad are handled the same careful way. Delivery isn't just dropping a vehicle on the drive, though. Commissioning means the buggy is set up on site, checked over after transport, and you're shown how it works: charging, controls, the everyday care and anything specific to your spec.
For a fleet, this is also where the vehicles are handed over as a matched set, with the team shown how to charge, rotate and look after them. By the time we leave, the buggy or the fleet is ready to use, not a box of jobs for you to finish. That's the point of a build that runs all the way to your door.
Step 6: Aftercare and the years that follow
A bespoke buggy is a long-term thing, so the process doesn't end at handover. Every vehicle comes with a 3-year warranty and a 24-hour priority call-out, so if anything ever needs attention it's dealt with quickly and without fuss. An electric buggy has very little to service compared with a petrol one: no fuel to store, no cold engine, no annual ritual. Keep the battery charged, the buggy clean and covered between uses, and it'll keep earning its place for years.
If your needs change, a build can grow with you. Owners often start with one vehicle and add a matched second, or move from a single buggy to a small branded fleet. Because we keep the spec, repeating or extending a build later is straightforward. The first buggy sets the house style, and the rest follow it.

Frequently asked questions
How are bespoke golf buggies made?+
Each one is built to order rather than picked off a shelf. The process runs in six stages: a conversation about how you'll use it, a specification and design, the build (frame, drivetrain, battery and bodywork), finishing and quality checks, delivery and commissioning to your door, then aftercare. You're involved in the stages that shape the vehicle.
How long does a bespoke buggy take to build?+
It depends on the specification, the finish and how busy the build schedule is, so we confirm a realistic timeframe once your buggy is specified and the order is placed. A bespoke build takes longer than buying off the shelf, because it's made to your exact list rather than a standard one, and that's the trade-off for getting precisely what you need.
What can you customise on a bespoke buggy?+
Seats, battery, bodywork colour, upholstery, trim, wheels, roof and screen, lighting, load beds, tow hitches and special fittings can all be specified. We can match a colour to a house, brand or estate palette. Nothing is chosen from a fixed menu, so if you can describe it we can usually build it.
Do you deliver and set up the buggy?+
Yes. We deliver worldwide as standard, and delivery includes commissioning: the buggy is set up on site, checked over after transport and handed over with a run-through of charging, controls and care. For a fleet, the vehicles are handed over as a matched set with the team shown how to look after them.
What support comes after delivery?+
Every vehicle comes with a 3-year warranty and a 24-hour priority call-out, so any issue is dealt with quickly. Electric buggies need very little servicing, so day-to-day care is mostly keeping the battery charged and the buggy clean and covered. If your needs grow, we can repeat or extend a build to match.
How much does a bespoke electric buggy cost?+
New, premium-built buggies start at £11,500 for a two seater and £14,900 for a four seater, with utility, six and eight seaters higher and bespoke builds on request. Battery, finish, fittings and any branding move the figure from there, so we confirm a tailored price once the specification is agreed.
